Early Sketches for The Numerical Tarot |
|
As stated on the Home Page of this section. The Numerical Tarot was a collaboration with my mother. Part of the direction I gave her included some extremely rough sketches I had started, but, since completing The Numerical Tarot, have never bothered to finish. The main reason I never finished these drawings is because the drawings my mother did were so much better, making these look kinda boring by comparison. One reason they are boring is because they repeat the same composition of character, mandala, background and animal totem without variation. But... I am posting them here anyway, because - bad as they are - they do represent yet another "variation on a theme" concerning the visual expression of the patterns in nature that govern the theoretical model of existence being presented everywhere on this site that is interesting to observe. Some people like the simplicity of the current Numerical Tarot design. Other people like lots of "stuff" in each card. These drawings are what The Numerical Tarot might have been, if I had imposed upon the good nature of my mother a lot further than I did!Being completely unfinished sketches, these sketches are of course questionable, both in quality, artistic skill. So many spontaneous changes are made during the creation of any illustration... who knows what these might have evolved into, if given a chance. My artistic skills are minimal at best, so they might not have evolved into much. But the range of artistic ability in the world of tarot decks is so broad that I don't feel bad making this sketchy contribution. In fact, it would be my hope that this page would only help others wishing to draw a deck of their own, based on the underlying structure and inherent wisdom of the Numerical Tarot design. Hopefully, someone with some real talent will create such a deck. I am always ready for a collaboration! In the mean time...
